HICKOK BELT BUCKLE ADVERTISEMENT #1

The Hickok Company was founded in Rochester, NY by Stephen Rae Hickok in 1909. It became part of Tandy Corp. in 1974, producing a line of men's belt buckles. We have found two of their salesman sample ads that sat on their sales counter and reproduced them using the same quality materials as all of our art. This one features a stunning painting by William Robinson Leigh, dated around 1947.

This salesman’s sample ad is illustrated by Olaf Wieghorst. Wieghorst was an illustrator who immigrated to the US in 1918. He had an illustrious career that included chasing Poncho Villa, part-time wrangling, and was even a New York City mounted police officer. He painted the covers of Zane Gray novels and became know as, The Dean of the Western Plains. The piece was typical of the action packed scenes he loved to paint.
